How You’ll Make a Difference
KWHB has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Health Promotion Coordinator, based in Katherine, NT.
Working closely with the Senior Prevention and Population Health Advisor, you will be responsible for promoting and improving health literacy by planning, implementing, and evaluating regional and local health promotion activities in consultation with the Board of Directors, staff, and community groups.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating, implementing, and reviewing health promotion activities in Katherine West region
- Ensuring a cultural health literacy focus and alignment with KWHB plans
- Supporting Health Promotion Officers, assisting communities, and collaborating with programs
- Developing social marketing strategies, health resources, and education materials
- Staying updated on best practices, disseminating lessons, and advising on initiatives
- Participating in staff orientation, building health promotion capacity
- Providing regional and community progress reports, ensuring project approvals
- Maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including the healthcare industry
- Contributing to KWHB's Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives
What You’ll Bring to the Team
To be considered for this position, you’ll need tertiary education (can be a diploma) along with experience in public health, health promotion, adult education, community development or a related field. A combination of skills and experience may also be considered.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values and a commitment to the advancement of Aboriginal communities. Prior experience working or volunteering in a low-level health literacy environment or developing country would be considered an asset
Additional requirements include:
- Current driver’s licence
- Current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), or ability to obtain
- Current Criminal History Check, or ability to obtain
- Current COVID-19 immunisation certificate (3 doses required)
- Must be willing to travel (approximately 50%)
- Advanced computer skills
