About the Opportunity

Katherine West Health Board is looking for a full-time Preventing Tech-based Abuse Project Officer based in Katherine, NT.

Reporting to the Manager Big Rivers Health Promotion, this role is responsible for leading a community-led initiative focused on reducing technology-facilitated abuse by working alongside Aboriginal men to co-design and deliver behaviour change initiatives.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with Aboriginal men, elders, communities, and partner organisations
• Establishing and supporting a Regional Reference Group of Aboriginal men as community champions
• Facilitating training sessions focused on leadership, respectful behaviour, and digital safety
• Leading community consultations to understand local needs and cultural context
• Coordinating co-design processes to develop culturally relevant initiatives
• Supporting development of resources aligned with cultural and health literacy frameworks
• Contributing to referrals and collaborative care planning where appropriate
• Supporting development of a sustainability framework for long-term program impact
• Assisting with evaluation, data collection, and reporting requirements
• Coordinating day-to-day project delivery in line with timelines and funding milestones

About You

To qualify, you will need a recognised tertiary qualification in Social Work, Health Promotion, Community Development or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, along with the ability to obtain an NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) and National Police Check.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

• Experience working with Aboriginal communities and understanding of cultural values and self-determination
• Experience facilitating group discussions, co-design, or community engagement processes
• Exposure to behaviour change programs, particularly working with men
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and family, domestic and sexual violence contexts
• Knowledge of digital safety or technology-facilitated abuse

You will be confident facilitating sensitive conversations, able to hold accountability while maintaining respect, and committed to culturally safe practice.
