With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

At KWHB, we take a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, delivering evidence-based programs that support not only physical health, but also spiritual, cultural, emotional and family wellbeing. Our people are our greatest strength, and we are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive workplace where collaboration, learning and professional growth are encouraged.

A career with Katherine West is more than just a job, it is a meaningful and life-changing experience. Working in the remote western region of the Northern Territory offers the opportunity to challenge perspectives, deepen cultural understanding and make a genuine difference to community wellbeing.

We are strongly committed to the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff. Our services are strengthened by employees with cultural knowledge and strong connections to Country and community, and we actively support pathways for local community members to grow into leadership, management, health professional, outreach and support roles within our organisation.

The Big Rivers region (a 3 hour drive from Darwin) begins south of Kakadu National Park encompassing Pine Creek, then extends over 500km south to Kalkaringi and stretches across the width of the Territory between the Western Australia and Queensland borders. The region is significant in scale, covering over 360,000 square kilometres and accounting for an area greater than that covered by Germany. The region consists of a number of varied natural environments including vast rivers, tropical forests, rocky escarpments and savannah plains.

With eight national parks and reserves throughout the region, as well as five main river systems, this is a truly unique part of the world that many will never get to see.
