About Katherine West Health Board

Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

Katherine West Health Board is looking for a full-time Manager Quality, Risk and Safety. The successful candidate would ideally be based in Katherine or Darwin.

Reporting to the Executive Manager Corporate Services, this role leads organisation-wide quality, risk and safety systems, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and readiness for key audits and accreditation requirements.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of strategic and corporate risk registers
  • Driving ISO 9001 accreditation, quality improvement initiatives, and WHS compliance across the organisation
  • Leading audit preparation and management of audit outcomes
  • Managing and maintaining the organisation’s policy framework to ensure legislative compliance and best practice
  • Promoting a positive WHS and staff wellbeing culture across all sites and communities
  • Supervising quality and audit functions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and compliance outcomes, while leading a small team
  • Collaborating with clinical and corporate leaders to meet RACGP and ISO standards
  • Acting as system owner for quality and risk systems, ensuring they remain fit-for-purpose and aligned with legislation

What you’ll bring to community

To qualify, you will need demonstrated experience in quality, risk and safety management within a regulated environment, along with a strong understanding of compliance frameworks and continuous improvement systems.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience working with ISO 9001 and/or accreditation frameworks
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation and practices
  • Experience managing organisational risk registers and mitigation strategies
  • Strong policy development and governance experience
  • Background in healthcare, community services, or Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations

You will be analytical, solutions-focused, and highly organised, with a proactive approach to managing risk and driving improvement.
