About Katherine West Health Board
Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

About the Opportunity
Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Mobil Remote Area Nurse (Mobile RAN) to join their team for an opportunity in the Katherine West region in the NT.
This role is ideal for an individual with 3-5 years of post-graduate experience, showcasing advanced clinical skills and competencies relevant to remote area nursing.
The KWHB Mobile team, comprising two members, is tasked with delivering primary health care and supporting health programs for residents in remote areas, encompassing individuals on cattle stations, Aboriginal communities/outstations, and NT Parks within the Katherine West region.
The role will involve driving on various terrains, overnighting in station accommodation, or camping, and living and working closely with your team member. The team will also provide support and relief work to KWHB remote health centres.
Working as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, you will provide the highest standard of nursing care within the comprehensive primary health care services.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Provide quality primary health care to individuals, families, and the community within own competency level, KWHB endorsed protocols and the CARPA Manual to meet expected client needs.
- Refer and link clients to other health professionals and appropriate support organisations.
- Support and participate in Quality Improvement activities within the Health Centre to enhance the safety and effectiveness of care.
- Provide staff relief support for remote health centre teams including participation in the after-hours on-call roster to meet community emergency needs.

This role is based in Katherine, located 300kms south of Darwin on the Stuart Highway. The population of Katherine is approximately 11,000.
The township has a central shopping centre, cinema, restaurants, hotels, modern hospital facilities, a large high school and primary school options, sporting grounds and a community swimming pool. Katherine is a central base for major government providers and surrounding pastoral properties, as well as the Royal Australian Air Force Tindal defence base.
