Position Description

About the Opportunity

This is a fulltime contract until 31 December 2025

Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Synergy Project Officer to join their team for an opportunity in the Katherine West region in the NT. This position is well suited to someone who has experience in community engagement or a health-related discipline.

This position is for a male project officer, who will work primarily with male community advisors and community members from our Katherine West region to align with cultural protocols.

The Synergy project officer will provide support to the University of Queensland (UQ) Research team, Local Study Coordinator, and community advisors from Katherine West communities to tailor, implement and evaluate Synergy initiatives for KWHB communities. They will also support the Local Study Coordinator and community advisors organise and plan qualitative data collection from Katherine West communities (with data collection to be carried out by university researchers).

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Local Study Coordinator to organise and run regular meetings with community advisors for the Synergy study and liaise with UQ regarding community advisor’s activities and decisions.
  • Workshop ideas with community advisors and other community members to gather and tailor ideas for community initiatives relating to the Synergy study.
  • Support qualitative data collection as directed by community advisors and Local Study Coordinator.
  • Feedback progress and effectiveness of Synergy initiatives and overall study to community advisors.
