Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Healing Spirits Coordinator to join their team for an opportunity in the Katherine West region in the NT. This position will be well suited to someone with a recognised qualification in Aboriginal Health Practitioner, nursing or social work with no restrictions on practice, or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
The role aims to support suicide prevention interventions, increase mental health awareness, improve community engagement, and enhance the availability of culturally appropriate suicide prevention resources.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Conduct needs assessments, including literature reviews and community consultations, to document current programs and resources.
- Develop a culturally appropriate, evidence-based suicide prevention intervention plan in collaboration with community members and key stakeholders.
- Implement the co-designed suicide prevention intervention plan.
- Assist with the development and implementation of social marketing strategies, health promotion resources and health education materials.
- Work Collaboratively with other programs such as Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Alcohol and Other Drugs and the Health Promotion team.
