Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

Position Description

Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Remote Area Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Aboriginal Health Practitioner to join their team for an opportunity in the Katherine West region in the NT. This position will be well suited to someone with at least 3-5 years post graduate experience with demonstrated advanced clinical skills and competencies applicable to remote area nursing.

This position delivers Primary Health Care and health program support to remote area residents living on cattle stations, Aboriginal communities/outstations, and NT Parks situated in the Katherine West region. Working as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, you will provide the highest standard of nursing care within the comprehensive primary health care services.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide quality primary health care to individuals, families, and the community within own competency level, KWHB endorsed protocols and the CARPA Manual to meet expected client needs.
  • Provide well person checks and advice and support in program areas of sexual health, mental health, women’s and men’s health, child health, chronic disease, allied health services and social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work harmoniously and in partnership with other health professionals and staff to ensure a collaborative multi-disciplinary approach to health care.
  • Support and participate in Quality Improvement activities within the Health Centre to enhance the safety and effectiveness of care.
