Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Social Care Engagement and Cultural Support Officer. 

This is a full-time non -continuing position until 30 June 2026.The position will be well suited to someone who identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.

Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

Position Description

This position requires an understanding of trauma, mental health, social and emotional wellbeing, Indigenous health, and the long-term impacts of FDSV.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Support the FDSV Healing Team to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed FDSV recovery and healing case management.
  • Follow-up on referrals and advocate for improved client access to FDSV recovery support services.
  • Support yarning and healing activities, alongside the Big Rivers Recovery FDSV team.
  • Promote, encourage, and support community members and their families/Carers with behavioural changes to improve FDSV recovery and healing.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for clients, including participating in case conferences as required.
