Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Specialised Family Violence Social Worker (SFVS). This position will be well suited to someone who has a Degree in Social Work or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). 

Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

Position Description

The Specialised Family Violence Services (SFVS) Social Worker aims to support and improve outcomes for individuals and families living in the KWHB region who are survivors of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV).

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Provide evidence based and culturally secure case management to high-risk victim survivors of domestic, sexual, and family violence with complex social needs including referral assistance, risk assessment, safety planning, and support in attending appropriate referral services.
  • Support the wider family services team to provide evidence based and culturally secure case management to victim-survivors of DFSV and their families.
  • Coordinate case conferences in line with best practice multi-disciplinary care, including collaborating with primary health, legal and social support services for clients at-risk of DFSV.
  • Represent KWHB on key meetings, including the Katherine Family Safety Framework meeting. Attendance includes preparation, information sharing with consent, planning and reporting on activities as required.
  • Provide leadership in coordinating and implementing quality improvement activities.
