Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Quality Risk and Safety Officer. This is a full-time continuing position. 

The Quality, Risk and Safety Officer is integral in supporting Katherine West Health Board in maintaining a safe environment for both staff and clients while promoting a culture of improvement across the operations, ensuring that our services are responsive to the unique needs of the communities served. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about safety and quality whilst also supporting continuous improvement. This position will expand your knowledge and insight into the corporate functions of a remote primary health care service and develop highly sought after transferrable skills. 

Position Description 

Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Conducting audits relating to quality, risk and safety in our communities, utilising the KWHB Quality Management System (QMS) 
  • Preparing reports on audit findings, highlighting key issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Identify and promote opportunities for process improvements and work collaboratively with the Manager Quality, Risk and Safety 
  • Provide general administrative support and participate in meetings with healthcare staff and other stakeholders
