Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for (2) Health Education Program Facilitators. This position will be well suited to someone who has an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities.
Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.
About the Opportunity
Join the Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) as a Health Education Program Facilitator and make a real impact on the health and wellbeing of children, youth, families, and communities. In this role, you'll deliver evidence-based, culturally relevant health education programs such as Mooditj, LoveBites, Rhythm to Recovery, and Communities for Children, promoting health literacy and empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health. With regular travel to remote communities within the KWHB region, you'll play a key part in fostering stronger, healthier communities while aligning with KWHB's strategic priorities.
This a full time limited tenure position until 30th June 2026
Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Delivering a variety of structured programs, including Mooditj, LoveBites, Rhythm to Recovery, and Communities for Children.
- Building trusted professional relationships within communities to enhance program delivery and participation.
- Actively involve community members in shaping the delivery of health education sessions.
- Support school staff, youth workers, and other professionals in understanding and integrating health education principles into their practices.
- Participate in evaluations of health education programs, collecting feedback and contributing to improvements.
