About us
Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.
Katherine West Health Board has been successful in securing additional funding in multiple Health Promotion initiatives. We currently have vacancies for the following areas:
- Health Promotion Officer - Big Rivers Tackling Indigenous Smoking
- Health Promotion Officer - Safe Tracks - Road Safety & Driver Education
- Health Promotion Officer - Sexual Health
- Health Promotion Officer - Rheumatic Heart Disease
- Health Promotion Officer - Healthy Homes
- Enviromental Health Officer - Cancer Screening and Prevention
- Health Promotion Officer

You will be responsible for developing and delivering culturally appropriate health promotion activities among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the delivery of health promotion activities
- Working with stakeholders to deliver community events and quality improvement exercises
- Maintaining effective relationships for disseminating health promotion information
- Collaborating with various coordinators to implement action plans
- Travelling to remote communities to engage priority groups
- Developing and using culturally appropriate promotional resources
- Supporting mass media and social media campaigns
This position is well suited to someone with prior experience delivering health programs coupled with experience in public health and health promotion. The successful applicant will demonstrate an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values and a commitment to the advancement of Aboriginal communities to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities and an understanding of the social determinants of health affecting Aboriginal people living in remote communities.
The successful candidate will enjoy an attractive remuneration of S68,614 - $96,940 (negotiated based on skills, qualifications and experience) PLUS super and a range of benefits, which include:
